Halloween Sensory Walk * ages 1+

Halloween Sensory Walk

Sensory walks are so much fun and allow children to explore their sense of touch using their feet! We have done several and my boys have such a blast every time I set one up! This Halloween Sensory Walk kids activity is perfect for the fall season with all the fun fall and Halloween textures available!

Check out the boys doing our Halloween Sensory Walk in the below video:

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR HALLOWEEN SENSORY WALK (referral links):

8 large bins or lids (we used lids to plastic storage containers we got at Target)

Spider Web Decoration

Plastic Spiders

Leaves from our backyard

Macaroni Bugs (cooked and dyed black and orange)

Food Coloring (to dye the macaroni bugs)

Sticks from our backyard

Orange Slime (We made it ourselves with this recipe!)

Plastic sealable bag (to hold the slime)

Black feather boa

SETTING UP THE HALLOWEEN SENSORY WALK:

I thought a long time about what order to put the bins in to try and minimize the mess, but since the boys went through it multiple times there was really no chance of that happening. Here’s the order we used:

1. Black Feather Boa

2. Slime in a plastic sealable bag

3. Sticks from our yard.

4. Macaroni Bugs (cooked and dyed orange and black)

5. Leaves

6. Spider Web with spiders

There are so many other options that could be used here so get creative! In retrospect, I probably should’ve put the macaroni bugs later in the walk as they stuck to their feet and made their way through the rest of the walk.  Still, the boys had a ball and kept doing the walk until basically all the items were mixed together. I just loved how the older boys helped my youngest make his way through the course.

Check out our classic sensory walk that’s great to do any time of the year or more sensory activities here.
