Notepad Friction Experiment
– 2 Notepads
Materials Needed:
Interlace all the pages of each notebook.
Step 1
Once all the pages are interlaced, have one person hold the end of each notebook and try to pull them apart.
Step 2
The notebooks don't come apart because as force is applied, the normal force increases for all the pages and the friction increases making them "stick" together.
As hard as you try they won't come apart!
To get the notebooks apart, loosen some of the pages and eventually you will be able to pull them apart.
