Underwater Volcano Science Experiment
– Two clear containers - one large & one small enough to sit inside the large one – A rock or small object – Water – Food coloring – Stick or chopstick for mixing
Materials Needed:
Fill the large container with cold water & the small container with hot water. Place rock in bottom of small container. Add food coloring to the hot water.
Step 1
Gently place the small container in the large container keeping the small container upright. Watch the eruption happen.
Step 2
Hot water rises to the top because the molecules in it move faster and therefore make it expand and become less dense causing it to rise.
Use a chopstick to mix the water to see it all mix evenly.
