How amazing is this fantasy city the boys constructed using pieces from Geomag’s magnetic building set? We are excited to be partnering with Geomag World to show you some wonderful STEM toys over the next few months and we are starting with this awesome Geomag Panels Construction Set!
When we first received this building set, the boys dove right in creating all kinds of shapes: pyramids, cubes, stars and even making letters and numbers with the rods and balls. I love how many different directions you can go with this versatile set.
After letting them play for a day or so, I challenged them to build a fantasy city using a guide sent to us by Geomag World. The boys dove right in and although it took us a few days to complete the entire set, they were so proud of the results. My 7 and 9 year old built most of the structure and my 5 year old helped in adding the panels. It’s a very modular structure so once they learned the pattern of the module it was fairly simple to build.

The boys asked if this was how real buildings were constructed so we used it as a learning moment to discuss architecture and building a solid framework (magnetic rods and metal spheres) before adding the walls (panels). We actually made a mistake in our module when we first started building our towers and had a couple collapses. It was fun problem solving to try and figure out where our mistake was. Once we solved the problem, our structure was much more solid and we were able to build the towers to great heights!
If you’ve followed along with us, you know we are big fans of magnetic tiles, but the Geomag Construction Set with Panels is a great next step if your kids are looking for something a little more complex in their creations. I highly recommend this set, especially for kids ages 5+ although even my 2.5 year old loved playing with them (supervised of course as there are small pieces to this set).
