Eggshell Shape Smash Toddler Activity * ages 2+

Why is it that smashing things is so much fun? All I know is that my boys love to smash things any chance they get and this Eggshell Shape Smash Toddler Activity was a huge hit with my youngest son, Alexander.

WHAT TO DO:

1. Start by using the eggs to make something delicious to eat. Be sure to try to crack the eggs right in the middle so you have two equally sized egg shells left over.

2. Use soap and water to carefully clean the eggshells and set them on a paper towel to dry.

3. Once completely dry, use a permanent marker to draw shapes (or colors, letters or numbers) on the shells. We drew circles, stars, squares and triangles.

4. Set the shells on a paper towel inside of a baking sheet (for easy cleanup) and set on a table. We did this activity outside but could easily be done inside as well.

5. Ask the child to identify a shape and break the shell with the on it. Alexander immediately understood what I wanted him to do and got right to work breaking the shells for each shape!

Alexander enjoyed this activity so much I wish I had a hundred more shells for him to smash. We’ll definitely be saving our eggshells for future smashing sessions.
