Torn Paper Fall Tree š ages 3-5 š Autumn is such a beautiful time of year.Ā My boys just love it when the leaves change color and start to fall from the trees. Oliver made this lovely tree at school and was excited to recreate it at home. This activity celebrates the beauty of the fall season and is excellent for developing pre-cutting skills, bilateral movement (using two hands in different directions) and fine motor pincer grasp.
MATERIALS NEEDED (affiliate links) TO MAKE TORN PAPER FALL TREE:
- Construction paper in fall colors like red, yellow and orange (scraps of paper work well here).
- Glue
- Crayons
- White paper – we used a textured watercolor paper as it was a bit thicker than plain white paper.
WHAT TO DO:
- Start by having the child tear long strips of paper.
- Then have the child tear the long strips of paper into small squarish strips.
- Next take the crayons and draw a tree trunk with brown and tree leaves with green.
- Finally take some glue, dip the torn paper pieces (the leaves) in the glue and start adding the leaves to the tree drawing. Oliver wanted to keep all his leaves on the tree, but it would look great is some of the leaves were falling off the trees.
