Oreo cookies

Index cards

Toothpick

Marker, pen or pencil

Start by writing fractions on index cards. Then prepare a plate of cookies and loosen the tops of the cookies so they are easy to remove. Finally have the child use a toothpick to divide the cream filling into equal parts to recreate the fraction equivalent on the index card. You will find the cream removes quite easily from the cookie if you scrape the toothpick underneath the cream and then remove.

My oldest son loved this technique to practice fractions and of course loved eating the delicious snack at the end!
