Water Balloon Painting * ages 2+

Water Balloon Painting 🎈ages 2+ 🎈

We had so much fun with this messy, outdoor, summer activity using water balloons and paint and the results were amazing!

MATERIALS NEEDED (afiliate links):

  • Water balloons (We used standard water balloons and they didn’t break, but there is definitely a chance they will break.  If you want something a little more durable, use regular latex balloons.)
  • Large paper roll
  • Washable Paints

WHAT TO DO:

1. Start by filling up some water balloons. We tried not to fill them too full as we didn’t want them to burst while painting with them.

2. Lay paper down and secure the corners so the wind doesn’t blow the paper away. We used two large pieces of easel paper and secured them on the edges with rocks.

3. Dip the balloons in paint and get busy creating!  It was so fun to watch the boys come up with different techniques like rolling, spinning, dabbing and looping the balloons to make a quite beautiful painting! 😍👍🏻

4. Allow the artwork to completely dry before moving them.  We made the mistake of trying to move them too soon and ended up ruining them!  Oh well, at least we got some good pictures!
